Mary Rice lives in Brentwood, Tennessee, and provides professional photography to the Greater Nashville area and beyond.
She is a graduate of Vanderbilt and Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington and practiced law for many years before changing things up to become a photographer. In 2011 she earned an Associates Degree in Visual Communication from Nashville State (NSCC). While at NSCC, she was the Bogen Cafe Scholarship winner and president of the Student Photography Society.
Upon graduation, Mary worked part-time as a second shooter for wedding photographers and as an assistant to Rachel Paul Photography (architectural photography). She also has worked part-time for Bella Baby Photography, GradImages, the Iconic Event Group, and MarathonFoto.
Mary's photography has been published in Middle Tennessee Equestrian, American Spirit (cover and feature), The Intriguing Vision of Sylvia Hyman, Trump L'oeil Ceramic Artist (2011), and Photographer's Forum. Mary has completed commercial shoots for ads appearing in local publications including Nashville Interiors and Nashville Arts and Entertainment. Her photography has been featured in Stream Valley's marketing materials. Her commercial clients have included Arrington Vineyards, Boconi Bags and Leather, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Mary is also interested in fine art photography. She has been an Ambassador to the Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where she has been juried into three international exhibits. She has participated in group exhibits in many Nashville art galleries. In the fall of 2016 she exhibited at the Darkroom Gallery in Essex Junction, Vermont, participated in the Curated Fridge exhibit themed "Road Trip" juried by Aline Smithson in Brooklyn, New York, and most recently exhibited at the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, South Carolina, in an exhibit themed "Color."
Hobbies? Travel, tennis, movie dates with husband Don, and lunch with friends.
Mary's combined experiences give her a unique ability to capture life - in all its varied forms - with a camera. She finds inspiration from her faith, nature, other artists, and pretty much everyone she meets. She loves living and working in Nashville, America's friendliest "it city."
Mary is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the Professional Photographers of Middle Tennessee (PPOMT), and the Society of Nashville's Artistic Photographers (SNAP). She is an Associate Member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP).
